Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of a Data Mesh framework, focusing on Snowflake architecture and logical data layering. The ideal candidate will drive decentralized data ownership, ensuring data is treated as a product that is discoverable, addressable, and trustworthy. This role requires a strategic thinker who can align our enterprise data strategy with the CleanSlate vision, stripping away legacy constraints to create a future-state architecture.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a Data Mesh framework, ensuring decentralized data ownership across domains.
- Develop and maintain Snowflake architecture, focusing on target-state logical modeling and data layering (Raw → Curated → Data Products).
- Establish a self-serve platform that empowers domains to manage their own data.
- Implement federated governance to enforce global standards across local domains.
- Oversee the storage layer, ensuring data is stored in a proprietary, columnar, compressed format in the cloud (S3, Azure Blob, or GCS).
- Manage the compute layer, utilizing independent clusters of compute resources for efficient query processing.
- Lead the cloud services layer to handle authentication, metadata, query optimization, and security.
- Align enterprise data strategy with business objectives, ensuring all technological choices support desired outcomes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop a roadmap for CleanSlate vision alignment.
Mandatory Skills
- Extensive experience with Data Mesh frameworks and Snowflake architecture.
- Proven expertise in logical data modeling and logical data layering.
- Strong understanding of decentralized data ownership and data as a product principles.
- Experience in cloud storage solutions (S3, Azure Blob, GCS) and columnar data formats.
- Familiarity with federated governance and enterprise data strategy development.
- Deal breaker Experience in payments systems.
