Skill – Network Automation Engineer
Role / Tier: - Lead Software Engineer/ Tier 2
Job Description
- Design, set up, and maintain advanced WiFi test environments including routers, access points, WiFi clients, attenuators, traffic generators, and spectrum analyzers.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for CPE devices covering throughput, connectivity, roaming, interoperability, and performance under different RF conditions.
- Perform hands-on testing on WiFi standards including 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax (WiFi 4/5/6) and upcoming standards (e.g., WiFi 7).
- Analyze packet captures (Wireshark, AirMagnet, etc.) to troubleshoot issues and validate test results.
- Automate regression and performance testing using Python, Shell, or other scripting languages.
- Collaborate with development, firmware, and field support teams to reproduce, isolate, and resolve WiFi issues.
- Document test results, log defects, and provide recommendations for quality improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience testing WiFi on CPE devices (e.g., gateways, routers, mesh systems).
- Strong understanding of wireless protocols, RF fundamentals, and WiFi standards.
- Experience with tools such as iPerf, Wireshark, Octoscope, Spirent, LitePoint, or similar.
- Proficiency in setting up testbeds simulating various home and enterprise WiFi environments.
- Familiarity with Linux-based systems and embedded firmware testing.
- Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar to automate test cases and log analysis.
- Experience with TR-069, TR-181, or other CPE management protocols.
- Knowledge of Mesh networking, Band Steering, DFS testing, and MU-MIMO.
- Experience in CI/CD environments and integration of tests into pipelines.
- Certification in wireless technologies (CWNA, CWNP) is a plus
