GBST Syn Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled GBST Syn~ Engineer to join our Capital Markets technology team. The candidate will play a key role in configuring, enhancing, and supporting the Syn~ post-trade processing platform, with strong functional knowledge in settlement and custody operations. The role combines technical expertise with domain understanding of the trade lifecycle, clearing, settlement, and asset servicing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, support, and optimise the GBST Syn~ platform for equities, fixed income, and derivatives.
- Translate business requirements into Syn~ configurations, workflows, and integration solutions.
- Develop and maintain interfaces with upstream trading platforms and downstream custodians, clearing houses, and reporting systems.
- Ensure system stability, scalability, and performance for high-volume post-trade transactions.
- Provide Level 2/3 production support, root cause analysis, and resolution.
- Participate in upgrades, patches, and migration projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile/DevOps environments.
Must-Have Skills
Strong programming experience in Java
Hands-on with Oracle/SQL (queries, stored procedures, performance tuning)
Knowledge of Unix/Linux environments (scripting, troubleshooting)
Experience with integration technologies (MQ, REST/SOAP APIs, XML, ISO20022)
Solid functional understanding of the capital markets trade lifecycle, especially:
Settlement workflows (DVP, FOP, T+1/T+2 cycles, partial settlement, fails management)
Custody operations (asset servicing, safekeeping, reconciliations, client reporting)
- Problem-solving and analytical ability with production support experience
Good-to-Have Skills
- .NET experience (for client-specific adaptors or reporting tools)
- Exposure to corporate actions, fees & billing, and collateral management
- Familiarity with regulatory initiatives (T+1 settlement, CSDR, MiFID, etc.)
- Scripting skills in Python for automation
- Monitoring & logging tools (Splunk, AppDynamics, ELK Stack)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins, Bitbucket)
- Knowledge of other post-trade platforms (e.g., Broadridge, Calypso, Murex, TCS BaNCS)
