AS400 Developer
Responsibilities
- Provide 24x7 on-desk operational support for IBM i (AS/400) environments across global regions.
- Perform proactive system health monitoring and support for:
- Batch jobs and job queues
- Message queues
- Backup and recovery processes
- Plan, coordinate, and execute critical business operations, including:
- End-of-day (EOD) processes
- Weekly, monthly, and quarterly cycles
- Fiscal year-end activities
- Take ownership of incident identification, troubleshooting, and resolution, ensuring minimal impact on business operations.
- Actively contribute to Major Incident Management (MIM) by providing technical expertise, impact assessment, and resolution guidance.
- Support production deployments and collaborate closely with development teams to ensure smooth releases.
- Execute and support cross-region data transfer activities between AS/400 environments.
- Handle business-critical service requests, including generation of reports (e.g., fraud reports) and other operational deliverables.
- Perform ad-hoc operational activities based on business and stakeholder requirements.
- Ensure backup integrity, restoration readiness, and participate in recovery operations when required.
- Maintain and continuously improve runbooks, SOPs, and operational documentation to ensure consistency and audit compliance.
- Drive automation and process optimization initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Collaborate effectively with global stakeholders and remote teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computing, Information Technology, OR IT-related Higher Diploma with 4 years + experience in IT sector.
- Experience in AS/400 system monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Experience in IPL activities in AS/400 systems.
