Job Overview:
The Senior Data Management Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing the lifecycle of data across the organization. This includes ensuring the availability, quality, integrity, security, and usability of data assets. This role will involve implementing and enforcing best practices for data governance, data architecture, and data quality management to support business decision making, analytics, and compliance requirements. The Senior Data Management Specialist will work closely with data engineers, data scientists, business stakeholders, and IT teams to drive data driven initiatives and improve the organizations data landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Governance & Strategy:
Develop, implement, and manage the organizations data governance framework to ensure consistent and high quality data across all business units.
Define and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
Work with stakeholders to create a unified data strategy, ensuring data aligns with business goals and facilitates data driven decision making.
Data Quality & Integrity:
Establish and maintain data quality management processes, including data validation, cleansing, and enrichment, to improve the reliability and consistency of data.
Identify and address data quality issues through root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Monitor data quality metrics and report on the health of the data ecosystem to senior management.
Data Architecture & Design:
Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement scalable and efficient data architectures that support both operational and analytical use cases.
Define and enforce best practices for data modeling, metadata management, and data integration across the organization.
Lead the design of data lakes, data warehouses, and other data repositories to support enterprise data management needs.
Data Security & Compliance:
Oversee data security policies to ensure sensitive data is appropriately protected through encryption, access controls, and secure storage practices.
Ensure the organizations data management practices comply with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, etc.
Conduct data privacy impact assessments and risk assessments as needed to maintain a secure and compliant data environment.
Data Integration & Interoperability:
Lead data integration efforts to streamline the flow of data between internal and external systems, ensuring accurate and timely information exchange.
Oversee the development of data pipelines and integration tools, working closely with data engineers and IT teams to ensure smooth data transfers.
Ensure data interoperability across various platforms (ERP systems, CRM systems, third party applications, etc.).
Stakeholder Collaboration & Data Support:
Work closely with business stakeholders, including marketing, finance, operations, and IT, to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions. Act as a subject matter expert in data management for the organization, providing guidance and training to staff on data governance best practices.
Lead and manage cross functional teams in the delivery of data related projects and initiatives.
Data Analytics & Reporting: Collaborate with data analytics teams to ensure that high-quality data is available for business intelligence, reporting, and advanced analytics use cases.
