Role Overview
Mercer is seeking an AI Architect – Employee Digital Twin to design and govern the enterprise AI architecture underpinning Mercer’s Employee Digital Twin platform. This role is responsible for defining how AI, machine learning, semantic models, and data platforms work together to create a trusted, explainable, and scalable digital representation of employees.
The AI Architect ensures that Mercer’s workforce intelligence is delivered through robust, auditable, and ethically governed AI systems, aligned with Mercer’s consulting rigor and global enterprise standards.

Architect how intelligence is built, orchestrated, governed, and scaled—not just individual models.
Key Responsibilities
AI Architecture & System Design
Define the end‑to‑end AI reference architecture for the Employee Digital Twin platform, including:
AI orchestration and agent frameworks
Model lifecycle and serving layers
Semantic understanding and reasoning components
Integration patterns with HRIS, analytics, and Mercer platforms
MLOps, Governance & Responsible AI
Define MLOps architecture, including:
Embed AI governance guardrails, including:
PII protection and role‑based access
Bias detection and fairness controls
Auditability and usage traceability
Required Qualifications
12+ years of experience in AI/ML architecture, data platforms, or enterprise systems design.
Proven experience architecting large‑scale AI systems beyond isolated models.
Strong expertise in:
ML and Generative AI architectures
RAG systems, vector stores, and AI orchestration
Semantic models and knowledge‑based reasoning
Deep understanding of AI lifecycle management (MLOps) and production deployment patterns.
Experience architecting secure, multi‑tenant enterprise platforms.
Ability to translate complex AI systems into clear architectural guidance for leadership and delivery teams.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Engineering, or related field.Experience with workforce, HR, compensation, or people analytics platforms.
Exposure to digital twin concepts (human, asset, or system twins).
Experience integrating AI with HRIS ecosystems (Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM).
Familiarity with cloud‑native AI platforms and distributed data architectures.
Background working in consulting‑led or regulated enterprise environments.
